Lensa, the tech startup set to revolutionize how companies identify ideal employees and job seekers pinpoint career opportunities, will launch in the U.S. this fall, at the HR Tech Conference in Las Vegas.

Gergo Vari, the company's CEO and founder, built Lensa to overcome the well-known hurdles on both candidate and employer sides of connecting the right applicants with the right positions.

For many job openings, fewer than half of applicants meet the minimum requirements. And then, just a handful of candidates truly stand out. On the jobseeker side, Vari saw the opportunity to make the experience more efficient, specific and useful. He envisioned a platform that would provide the most relevant openings gauged by multiple factors including, industry, salary and location.

With Lensa, Vari and his team took on and solved those longstanding issues. First and foremost, Lensa delivers to employers only the most promising candidates. Lensa's online assessment program -- known as serious gaming -- evaluates candidates' soft skills including decision-making patterns, personalities and problem-solving approaches. Using the results, recruiters can arrange job interviews knowing the candidate's skills and personality align with the company's needs and culture.

Further, employers can use Lensa's serious gaming platform to assess their current teams, establishing the results as benchmark patterns for recruiting new talent. Doing so allows recruiters to compare, contrast and juxtapose the profiles of existing teams and team members with those of candidates. Lensa's technology gives companies the tools to build effective teams of highly compatible individuals.

On the jobseeker side, candidates receive recommended matches, linking candidates to job openings; and they also get a detailed soft skill assessment report.

"Candidates can maximize their gain by focusing on positions where they're likely to be a better fit. The match isn't limited to jobs but also includes companies and general work environments," Vari said.

"Lensa's feedback also provides good food for thought in preparing for interviews. 'What are your soft skills?' a prospective employer is going to ask."

Vari, a native of Hungary raised in New York and Budapest, knows the HR and recruiting world intimately. Just out of college in 2001, he found the job market difficult and Hungary's online job boards subpar. Seeing an opportunity, he and two friends founded a startup, Jobmonitor.hu, and later Profession.hu. Though his co-founders left, Vari built the company over a few years into the nation's largest job website, claiming 80 percent of the market. He sold the company in 2005 to a multinational media group based in Finland, marking the largest transaction of its type in Hungary at the time. He then founded a succession of three European tech companies, building teams of effective employees at each before exiting and moving on to new challenges.

Last year, Vari and his family moved to San Francisco, establishing a base for Lensa's U.S. launch, his biggest market yet. He detailed the company's plans in this month's cover feature in Forbes magazine in Hungary.

"With whatever I do, I do not settle for conventional solutions. Innovation, new approaches and creativity are key driving forces behind everything we do at Lensa," Vari said. "We want to make sure the person who takes the job will be successful there. We developed the technology and we're bringing the solutions to the market. If we can help people get matched with employers where they are happy and thriving, and we can help companies build better teams, then we've assisted in accomplishing great things."
