Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adria Will Be Featured at Museum of Science, Boston Beginning February 15th

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Feb 6, 2014) - Ferran Adrià, the World's most award-winning chef, and executive chef of elBulli, the #1 restaurant in the World during its time, is coming to Boston. The Museum of Science is showcasing Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià from February 15 thru May 26, kicking off with a private industry event on February 13th, sponsored by Estrella Damm, the Beer of Barcelona.

The event invites chefs and restaurateurs to the Museum for a private seminar, where Ferran Adrià will talk about his passion: food. Guests will be invited to walk through the exhibition, followed by a reception in which they'll taste Estrella Damm.

Estrella Damm is the #1 Beer in Barcelona, home to Ferran Adrià. Chef Adrià has been collaborating with the brewery since 2008, particularly in the creation of Inedit, a wheat and barley beer with spices, specifically crafted to pair with food. Chef Adrià is also connected to the brewery as the gastronomic ambassador for their flagship brand, Estrella Damm.

Ferran Adrià was the co-owner and chef of elBulli from 1984 until its closure in 2011. Chef Adrià has a long history of recognition, including being listed on TIME Magazine's "world's top 100 influential people," and Restaurant Magazine's 2010 "Chef of the Decade." 

elBulli itself was awarded "World's Best Restaurant" five times by Restaurant Magazine. The elBulli team invented 1,846 dishes during their tenure, establishing themselves as masters of molecular gastronomy, which has inspired chefs from all over the world to go beyond the norm and push boundaries in the kitchen.

The restaurant, once receiving 2 million reservation requests each summer it was open, closed in 2011 in order to become a center for research and innovation. The center will reopen as elBullifoundation in 2014 and will offer free comprehensive cooking courses, dubbed "Bullipedia" by Ferran Adrià, to young, aspiring, culinary professionals.

Visitors to the Museum of Science, Boston will experience the unusual tastes, textures, and untraditional high-tech appliances of elBulli in Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià. Throughout the exhibit, they will explore how Adrià and his team have added a multi-sensory, magical dimension to the experience of eating -- radically revolutionizing the way food is both created and consumed.

Innovation in the Art of Food: Chef Ferran Adrià features historical artifacts from the restaurant as well as images and videos that demonstrate elBulli's transformation from a family-run restaurant to an innovative and bold institution. Visitors will have the opportunity to see Adrià's notebooks, sketches, and even clay models of his culinary brainstorms. A video simulation of an original 34-course meal being served to you is on display alongside a light box representing all 1,846 dishes Chef Adrià created.
