Wolters Kluwer's CT Corporation Introduces Online Incorporation Wizard

Tool Helps Small Business Owners Understand Entity Type Options

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 17, 2015) - Wolters Kluwer CT Corporation, incorporation, legal and compliance solutions experts, announced today the launch of an online tool designed to help business owners understand entity type options -- corporation, LLC, S Corp., etc. -- for structuring their business. The interactive "Incorporation Wizard" educates small business owners on the various entity types so they can make an independent decision about the business structure that best fits their needs.

"Incorporation is an important step in the early life of a business. The Wizard is reflective of CT's mission to make the incorporation process -- and launching a business as a whole -- as straightforward and easy to achieve as possible," said Jennifer Friedman, CMO of the small business segment of CT Corporation.

The Incorporation Wizard prompts business owners to answer questions in six categories:

  • Basics: Business entity type is dictated by the number and nature of a business's owners.
  • Funding: Some lenders/investors, specifically banks, look at entity type when determining financing for a business.
  • Industry: Certain industries are vulnerable to lawsuits, and the right entity structure can help protect the business owners.
  • Income: A company's anticipated revenue and profitability can be a leading factor in selecting an entity type.
  • Taxes: A business owner's preferences in terms of taxation and employee benefits will influence entity structure.
  • Future Planning: While not always a consideration when business owners are starting a business, exit strategy or desired outcome for a business can influence the choice of business type.

Based on the answers provided, the Wizard connects business owners to additional information and relevant research about business different structures.

The Wizard is part of a larger website redesign for CT Corporation. Created in partnership with Alexander Interactive, the new site provides quick and easy access to the services and resources that businesses owners need to meet their formation, compliance and governance requirements including licenses, registered agent services and annual report filings. The site's additional features include a Resource Center with news, guides and state alerts, plus a weekly audio podcast for small business owners.
