Women Challenged to Make "Empowered" Financial Choices

Anita Saulite's new book implores women to take control of their money

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA and CALGARY, ALBERTA and TORONTO, ONTARIO and HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 19, 2013) - Coinciding with Financial Literacy Month and Financial Planning Week in Canada, Anita Saulite, financial expert seen on CTV National News and Global News, releases a new book to financially empower women. The Savvy Money Gal - Six Savvy Money Strategies for Successful Women, is for women across demographics and articulates the importance of being strategic and value driven when making financial decisions. Partial proceeds benefit The Canadian Women's Foundation, which also endorsed the book.

One of the book's top priorities is to address the poverty affecting countless women in Canada, and globally. For example: women head 80% of all single parent families in Canada - over one million families - and these women are amongst the poorest of all Canadians. Single moms have an average net worth of $17,000, while single dads average a net worth $80,000.

"The Savvy Money Gal wants to identify what's holding women back and teach them practical financial skills that empower them to stand in their own strength," explains Saulite. "I want all women to achieve successful financial outcomes by making more mindful and conscious decisions about money. This is necessary for women across demographics, not just those we view as poor."

To celebrate the launch, The Canadian Women's Foundation is distributing free copies in Halifax and Toronto, and other recipient organizations include the Calgary Women's Centre, Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Women's Centre, and the Surrey Women's Centre.

In addition to distributing free copies, Saulite's book is also available for purchase at: and in bookstores across Canada.
