SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - October 21, 2008) - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS), the premier women's soccer league in the world, has teamed with Seattle-based Cypress Consulting (, a business consulting, technology and creative services firm, to architect and implement the entire Web infrastructure for the league, including individual team sites. Scheduled to debut its new Web presence prior to the launch of its inaugural season beginning April 2009, WPS selected Cypress Consulting for its proven experience in the sports business arena, and its holistic approach to building a web brand that strategically incorporates extensive relationships, knowledge and integration experience with third-party technology applications and tools.

"Cypress Consulting brings a high level of innovation to the table, pushing the envelope of design and functionality to create a site that technically and visually represents our organization, while helping to build strong connections between fans and their favorite teams and players," said WPS Commissioner Tonya Antonucci. "The league's unique perspective and approach to online interaction with fans, coupled with Cypress Consulting's capabilities, technology and eye for innovation will give fans and marketers alike a truly differentiated interactive sports experience."

Cypress Consulting will be responsible for designing and developing the entire Web architecture of the WPS and team sites, incorporating key WPS brand attributes as well as hardware and software that can be managed from de-centralized offices around the country. The WPS sites will feature unique, real-time content, including a live game tracker and RSS feeds; a rich video component, such as video biographies for players, live game streams, and player and coach interviews; social networking elements like blogs and polls and fantasy games; and an e-commerce area. Cypress Consulting architected the WPS sites' framework, including hosting, server infrastructure, and software infrastructure, which will be supported by recognized technology providers including Sitecore's content management solutions and thePlatform for video management.

"Women's Professional Soccer needed a partner to whom they could outsource their entire Web strategy and infrastructure, and we are proud to announce they chose Cypress," said Nate Thompson, CEO of Cypress Consulting. "The new WPS sites will address current trends in home entertainment with fans moving towards a digital and interactive environment where they can access real-time games, scores and team information online, view player interviews and biographies -- even see what players are doing during their 'off field' time in the community. We are excited to be an integral part of the launch of this new organization and execute a brand new online presence that attracts and engages fans worldwide."

Cypress Consulting is nationally recognized for its recent work with PBS to launch the new PBS KIDS GO! online video player, as well as its role in helping dozens of athletic teams and organizations, including the Seattle Supersonics, New Orleans Saints, FSN, and Seattle Seahawks develop innovative, feature-rich Websites.
