Woodloch Pines Resort Is in Search of the Best Family Thanksgiving Traditions

HAWLEY, PA--(Marketwire - Oct 25, 2011) - Woodloch Pines Resort, a Pocono family resort, has been family-owned and operated for over 53 years, offering all-inclusive vacations to generations of families. Located on the pristine Lake Teedyuskung, Woodloch was once a small 12 acre resort purchased by Mary Kiesendahl in 1958. Today, the Kiesendahl children and grandchildren still carry on the tradition of excellence and warm hospitality. The Woodloch mission is to "treat all guests as if they were company in their own homes."

The all-inclusive resort, known for the touch of nostalgia that each and every guest can feel when they experience the resort, is infused with deep traditions. Mary and Harry Kiesendahl were always insistent on family dinners each and every night, no matter how busy they were. This tradition lives on in the main dining room where all guests and their families eat together during planned meal times. Loyal repeat guests even have a designated table that is always their family meal table, year after year. Other family traditions that have lived on through the generations are the traditions around Thanksgiving. Each year, the Kiesendahl family members split up and go about wishing each and every guest a Happy Thanksgiving in addition to serving over 1,200 pounds of turkey for the big day. After all guests have been served, only then does the Kiesendahl family reunite at John Kiesendahl's home to enjoy their own Thanksgiving feast. "Celebrating our family and what we are thankful for each year is extremely important to us," explained John, CEO, owner and father of seven. "Using the day to give special thanks for our many blessings by giving back to the community is a tradition that started with my great-grandparents and we are now teaching to our grandchildren."

Because tradition is such an integral part of the service and hospitality at this Poconos all-inclusive resort, it is a natural progression to evolve those traditions over time. That is where the guests come in. Woodloch Pines Resort has created a contest through social media where families can submit a short essay, a photo capturing the moment or a short video telling the story of their own family traditions, and can ultimately have the opportunity to win a two-night family vacation for four among other prizes. The family tradition stories will each be read by the Kiesendahl family and the winners will be chosen based on the ability to sustain the tradition over time, pass the tradition along, and include others in the tradition as it will be incorporated into the Woodloch Pines Thanksgiving Celebrations.
