Woodward Governor Company Intends to Become Woodward, Inc.

FORT COLLINS, CO--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) - Woodward Governor Company (NASDAQ: WGOV) today announced its intent to change its corporate name to "Woodward, Inc."

The name "Woodward, Inc." reflects the advancements Woodward has made in delivering energy control solutions while honoring its history of growth and proven performance.

"Woodward is now so much more than governors. With our broad portfolio of energy control systems and components, we deliver innovative products for an energy efficient future," said Thomas A. Gendron, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Amos Woodward developed his patented governor in 1870 to more efficiently control water wheels, which provided the main power to factories and mills. Today, Woodward applies its energy control technologies to manage fluids, motion, electrical power, and combustion.

Woodward's customers rely on the company to help them reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and improve reliability on their aircraft, engines and turbines, and defense systems. Additionally, Woodward's systems play a prominent role in controlling renewable energy, such as converters used in wind turbines, and sensors and controls that enhance the availability, quality and reliability of energy on the grid.

Woodward will be required to amend its certificate of incorporation prior to effecting the name change. Any such amendment will require stockholder approval at an annual or special meeting of Woodward's stockholders. This press release is not a proxy statement or a solicitation of proxies from Woodward's stockholders with respect to the proposed name change.
