Woodward Wins Military Programs

ROCKFORD, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 26, 2005 -- Woodward Governor Company (NASDAQ: WGOV) announced today that it has been awarded two major U.S. Military contracts through GE Infrastructure. Woodward will supply components for the GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team (FET) F136 engine, one of two propulsion choices to power Lockheed's Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft, and for the T700-GE-701D engine that will be used to upgrade the Sikorsky Black Hawk and Boeing Apache helicopters.

"These awards highlight Woodward's core competency in the development, manufacture, and service of fuel systems and controls. They also show the growing strength of our military market position," said Tom Gendron, Woodward President and Chief Executive Officer.

Woodward will provide the fuel metering unit, afterburner control, variable geometry actuation module, and bypass actuation module for the F136 engine being built by the GE Rolls-Royce FET. Woodward will develop, certify, produce, and support the suite of fuel system components, which will control both the main fuel supply as well as the augmentor system. The F136 fuel system initial production will begin in 2012.

GE Infrastructure - Aircraft Engine Division also selected Woodward to provide the Fuel Metering Unit (FMU) on the new T700-GE-701D engine derivative to convert the U.S. Army's Black Hawk and Apache helicopters. The FMU, which interfaces with the Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC), provides fuel and actuation control to the engine. The T700-GE-701D engine will enter into service in 2008. Woodward currently provides the hydromechanical unit on the existing T700 engine.

"To be selected for these engine programs demonstrates the strength of Woodward's fuel system and control capabilities and our depth of experience in the military engine market," said Marty Glass, Woodward vice president and general manager of Aircraft Engine Systems. "We are very pleased to be selected by GE Infrastructure - Aircraft Engine Division for these critical military programs. These awards exemplify our focus to provide the best components and systems to our customers."
