Workday Customers Go Live on Global Human Resources System of Record in Average of 120 Days

Customers Looking for Fast Time-to-Value Continue to Choose Software-as-a-Service Over On-Premise Solutions

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2009) - Workday, Inc., the leader in enterprise-class SaaS-based Human Resources (HR) and Financial solutions, has now brought more than 60 customers live on Workday HCM, and phase-one deployment times are currently averaging under 120 days. Workday customers range from mid-sized organizations to global Fortune 500 businesses.

What's New

Companies that want to go live in days, not years, are selecting Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) over on-premise ERP solutions.

-- Workday now has more than 60 customers in production across 49 countries.

-- Companies using Workday SaaS HR and Financial Management solutions eliminate the need to purchase additional hardware and servers, install and tune database software, physically install the application software or deal with ongoing maintenance.

-- With Workday, customers configure, rather than customize, their systems. Customization of on-premise systems is a time consuming process that requires change to the underlying software code, making every patch, service pack, upgrade, report, or integration a costly and complicated IT project. Instead, Workday's multi-tenant SaaS allows customers to configure and reconfigure software anytime, as business needs change -- with no IT impact.

-- Workday issues three updates per year, ensuring that customers always have access to the latest features and functionality. Since Workday is configured not customized, updates take approximately 14 days rather than the months or years it would take to upgrade in the on-premise world.

-- Independent ERP consulting firm Panorama Consulting recently studied more than 1,300 ERP customers. The study found that ERP implementation timeframes for organizations larger than 500 employees averaged more than 25 months, over six times the Workday average of 120 days.

More than 25 customers have gone live on Workday in 2009. Recent go-lives include:

-- ConvaTec (8,000 employees) -- A leading developer and marketer of innovative medical technologies, ConvaTec was spun off from Bristol-Myers Squibb in fall 2008. ConvaTec was able to deploy Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) to support open enrollment for its U.S. workforce in just 31 days. Since then, ConvaTec has also gone live with Workday in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, and Egypt with plans for 25 additional countries in 2009.

-- Savvis (2,200 employees) -- The HR team at Savvis, Inc. (NASDAQ: SVVS), a global leader in outsourced managed computing and network infrastructure for IT applications, needed an HR solution that could adapt to their changing business requirements and global processes. In just 120 days, Savvis deployed Workday HCM in 14 countries and Workday Benefits Network for employees in the U.S. Using Workday, the HR team can configure or update workflows in just minutes.

-- Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP (1,200 employees) -- International law firm Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge needed an HR solution that could be deployed quickly to support its global operations and fast approaching open enrollment period. Workday delivered an on-time, on-budget implementation, bringing the company live on HCM in the U.S., United Kingdom, and Hong Kong in just 175 days.

-- StoneRiver (2,000 employees) -- StoneRiver, a spin-off of financial services company Fiserv, was given approximately 10 weeks to transition its 2,000 employees from the parent company's solutions to its own HR system of record. StoneRiver deployed Workday Human Capital Management in 38 days. (See related news)

-- Websense (1,400 employees) -- Websense, a Web security, email security, and data loss prevention solutions company, needed a solution that would support HR functions and regulatory requirements around the world as it expands globally. In just 90 days, Websense went live on Workday HCM in 38 countries, replacing two existing on-premise applications. Websense is currently implementing Workday Benefits Network in anticipation of its fall open enrollment period.
