Workday for Education & Government Selected by the Association of American Medical Colleges, City Year, Madison College, Seton Hill University, and Syracuse University

Company Also Unveils Grants Management to Remove Administrative Complexities

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 31, 2012) - Workday, Inc., the leader in SaaS-based enterprise solutions for global human resources (HR), payroll, and financial management, today announced that the Association of American Medical Colleges, City Year, Madison College, Seton Hill University, and Syracuse University have selected Workday's unified administrative solution for Education & Government. The company also unveiled its Grants Management product as well as announced new functionality that will be delivered this year to all public sector customers, free of charge, as part of their regular Workday subscription.

What's New:
Customer Momentum
In response to customer demand, Workday expanded its administrative solution for higher education to include state and local governments. The solution was built in conjunction with strategic design partners, who provided real world input to ensure the product fit the unique requirements of education and government organizations. Recent customer selections and deployments include:

  • The Association of American Medical Colleges, City Year, Madison College, Seton Hill University, and Syracuse University selected Workday for a modern solution that could adapt quickly and lower costs, while meeting critical administrative needs.
  • Brown University, Georgetown University, New York Public Library, and the State of Nebraska are now live and realizing the benefits of Workday.

Grants Management to Remove Complexities of Grant Administration
A new product for Education & Government customers, Workday Grants Management is built to handle even the most complex grant administration requirements for a broad range of organizations. Grants Management will be generally available to customers later this year as part of the Workday 18 update.

  • Full-featured grants management solutions are vital to an institution's fiscal well-being. The solution is unified with Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll, and Financial Management, providing customers with the highest levels of visibility into grant activity, enhanced compliance with grantor reporter requirements, and greater data accuracy.

New Functionality Built for the Unique Needs of Education and Government
Workday manages and delivers updates to all of its customers three times per year to ensure customers are current on the latest application and technology innovations. The following functionality will be available to all existing Education & Government customers in the Workday 17 update, free of charge, as part of regular SaaS subscription fees. New functionality includes:

  • Budgetary Control & Commitment Accounting for Spend: With spending at universities and agencies under greater scrutiny, budgetary control helps organizations ensure that they are closely managing their spending and avoiding cost overruns. Workday provides controls that enable customers to check if funds are available through the entire purchasing process, from requisitions to payables. Customers are able to configure this functionality to meet their unique requirements and then modify it over time as their needs change. The ability to view the amount of funds available as part of the purchasing process improves visibility and reduces errors to help organizations manage spending more accurately and reduce budget overruns.
  • Benefit Coverage Across Multiple Jobs: Many individuals at universities and government agencies are paid from multiple sources or may have multiple roles within the organization. The Workday solution enables customers to calculate employees' benefits based on both their primary job as well as additional roles they may occupy, ensuring appropriate benefit coverage.
  • Academic Contract Pay: Many faculty and academics require unique pay structures, such as allocating pay evenly across 12 months when the actual time worked is only nine months. With academic contract pay, customers can meet the needs of their diverse workforce with varying pay periods and maintain employee satisfaction. By bringing the control of pay periods to the impacted offices instead of IT, Workday facilitates institutional agility.
