Workshops on Collaborative Robotics and Mixed Model Assembly Lines to Be Featured at the 4th Annual ASSEMBLY Show

ROSEMONT, IL--(Marketwired - Apr 20, 2016) - In October of this year, the 4th Annual ASSEMBLY Show, the only trade show exclusively focused on assembly manufacturing processes, will give attendees the unique opportunity to hear industry experts discuss the latest technological advances and manufacturing trends during two intensive workshops and over a dozen focused education sessions. The ASSEMBLY Show will take place from Tuesday, October 25 through Thursday October 27, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

"We are looking forward to bringing back this exclusively assembly focused trade show with the original vision in mind -- helping suppliers, buyers and users of assembly equipment in manufacturing plants connect, learn share and explore all things 'assembly,'" stated Tom Esposito, publisher of ASSEMBLY magazine. "We encourage all manufacturing professionals interested in seeing new technology and equipment, learning from industry leaders on ways to improve processes, and networking with thousands of industry peers to make plans to attend. This event certainly won't disappoint."

On Tuesday, October 25 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm there will be a 1/2 day workshop focused on Managing Mixed-Model Assembly Lines. In today's marketplace, where customers demand high product variety and short lead times, mass customization is the new paradigm for manufacturing. For example, given the number of options available for today's vehicles, the product mix in an automotive assembly plant could easily number in the tens of thousands. Managing that kind of variety requires new ways of thinking about line layout, assembly equipment and information technology. This workshop will show how to manage mixed-model assembly. Speakers will include Kevin Duggan, Principal, Duggan Associates who will present Creating Flow in High-Variety Environments; Brian Harrington, Simulation Specialist and Certified Six Sigma Blackbelt, MTN-SIM LLC who will present Simulation for Balancing Mixed-Model Assembly Lines; Andy Osterholzer, President, Flexible Automation Inc. who will present Automated Assembly Systems: Fixed or Flexible?; and Quarterman Lee, President, Strategos Inc. who will present Organization for Mixed-Model Assembly.

Also held on Tuesday will be a second workshop on New Collaborative Robotics with presenters from ABB, FANUC, and Universal Robots. Additional details will be available at www.theassemblyshow.com. Both workshops will be followed by the opening of the show floor from 4:00 - 7:00 pm for the Opening Night Network Reception featuring the popular Taste of Rosemont.

On the show floor on Wednesday, October 26, and Thursday, October 27, two Showcase Theaters will run concurrently offering a unique opportunity for exhibitors to demonstrate their company's expertise in a particular area related to the latest technological advances in custom automated assembly systems, robotics, screwdriving, adhesives, dispensing, plastics assembly, presses, conveyors, fasteners, packaging, workstations, welding, vision systems, and much more. Companies presenting include: Laco Technologies, Nordson EFD, Festo, Destaco, Panduit and Baluff. For exhibitors' there a still a few opportunities available to present in the Showcase Theater or offer a Webinar, click here for additional information.

The ASSEMBLY Show exhibit hall will be 20% larger than in 2015 and will once again feature nearly 250 exhibiting companies, including Gold Sponsor Promess, Silver Sponsors FESTO and ASG, and Bronze Sponsor Schmidt Technology as well as many of the Charter exhibitors who helped launch the event in 2013.
