World Famous DJ, Armin Van Buuren, Electrifies Performances With Myo Armband

Gesture-Control Armband Gives Armin Touch-Free Control of Lighting and Stage Effects

WATERLOO, ON--(Marketwired - Nov 18, 2014) - Thalmic Labs, the innovative technology company behind the Myo armband, is working with Haute Technique and renowned DJ Armin Van Buuren to bring touch-free gesture and motion control to live performances. This one-of-a-kind technology elevates Armin's shows by untethering him from his laptop and putting him closer to his fans, controlling lights and stage effects touch-free.

The Myo armband is a $149 consumer electronics device that lets you take control of your phone, computer, and so much more with simple, natural gestures. Haute Technique has built a custom integration with the Myo armband for Armin's performances, giving him total control of his audience's experience in real time. A pioneering artist, Armin is the first performer using the Myo armband live on stage.

"It is amazing to see our technology on the arms of one of the top DJs in the world, helping Armin deliver an amazing performance," said Stephen Lake, Co-founder and CEO of Thalmic Labs. "The Myo armband is an exciting new way to control digital technology, whether it's on stage in front of 10,000 fans or at home on the couch."

As one of the most influential electronic dance music (EDM) DJs worldwide, Armin Van Buuren is constantly innovating. He has used the Myo armband in clubs around Ibiza and has more performances to come.

"I always love to involve new ideas into my show," says Armin Van Buuren. "Crowd interaction is absolutely key to me, and the Myo helps me with this. It can create a unique experience for the clubber, and it feels like I'm even closer to them."

Using the Myo armband, DJs will be able to plug their hands into Ableton Live, Serato DJ, Traktor, Logic Pro, and GarageBand. Beyond DJ uses, the possibilities offered by the Myo armband are endless. Out of the box, it serves as a controller for home automation and multimedia, seamlessly replaces presentation remotes, controls video games and heads-up displays in a truly immersive way, and controls robotic devices and toys.
