World Kitchen Selects Widen DAM to Organize and Distribute Digital Media Files

Kitchenware Brand Leader Centralizes and Distributes Branded Assets With Widen Digital Asset Management

MADISON, WI--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2014) - World Kitchen, LLC, a global leader in kitchenware products, has selected the Widen Media Collective for its digital asset management (DAM) needs. From bakeware, dinnerware, kitchen and household tools to range-top cookware, storage and cutlery, World Kitchen will use DAM to organize and deliver its digital assets quickly and easily between its headquarters and major manufacturing, product development, distribution operations, and retail channels located throughout the world.

With recognizable brands such as Corelle®, CorningWare®, Pyrex®, and Chicago Cutlery®, World Kitchen's newly formed digital team realized they were taking requests for digital assets such as product photography, graphics, and videos for each of their brands, but lacked a platform to easily find and fulfill the requests. In addition, the requests commonly included converting the existing assets into other formats.

World Kitchen's digital media team began the search for a true solution by looking at a number of existing internal solutions that were not meeting their needs, and researching new solutions. They included both online research into DAM vendors, and referrals from their peers.

"We definitely knew we needed a strong platform that could grow with us," stated Andy Wang, digital marketing manager at World Kitchen. "It needed to fulfill our current and future needs as we grow our collection of digital assets, especially in terms of capabilities."

World Kitchen ultimately chose the Widen Media Collective because of its strength in search and metadata flexibility. To avoid a short term solution, they also noted Widen's strength in security and reliability to handle their digital asset needs for the long term. They are innovative with their usage of digital assets, and wanted to choose a DAM system that was innovative as well.

"Along with a strong referral, after going through demonstrations and reviewing the process with the advisors, we felt very comfortable moving forward with Widen," said Wang.

The DAM system will be used to give domestic and international retailers and sales teams, web and marketing teams access to a variety of assets including packaging, graphics, logos, video, product photography, and lifestyle photography. It will be easy to use and available on-demand via the web.

"As part of their evaluation, World Kitchen worked within a test environment, which we call a sandbox, allowing them to try out details of search and metadata functionality first hand," said Brenna Hale, Widen Advisor. "This is a very powerful way for them to experience if the tool was going to be a good fit for their users and also an effective way to think through strategy of how their live site may be configured to meet their needs."
