World Micro Extends Field Sales, Grows Quality Department

Brooks Promoted to QA Director, West Coast and Penang Staff Added

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Jun 20, 2012) - Georgia-based electronics distributor, World Micro, Inc., announced today that it has promoted Chris Brooks, the company's former quality manager, to the position of Director of Quality for the US facility. In addition, World Micro hired veteran quality manager, Mahendran Sanggaren, to run its Penang, Malaysia-based hub's quality department. Finally, to help it acquire new franchise lines, grow its business, and provide west coast field service, World Micro also hired fifteen-year sales veteran Nick Gan, as a field sales executive for the company's west coast satellite office.

Starting his career in the U.S. Navy in submarine electronics repair and quality inspection, Brooks acquired more than twenty years of quality inspection and management experience. He has been serving as the company's quality manager for the last two years. In his new role, Brooks will head the quality and inspection labs for the company in Atlanta, and support the company's headquarters in Penang, Malaysia, its Asian sales and distribution hub. Both Brooks and Sanggaren, through collaborative efforts, will direct and develop quality programs and processes in Atlanta and Penang. Among his many challenges, Brooks has the responsibility to ensure that World Micro's ISO/ANSI standards and certification programs, ESD programs, inspection and counterfeit detection process, personnel training, and the U.S. Government's Qualified Suppliers List of Distributors (QSLD) process, are all in compliance with their respective requirements and procedures. Brooks is an IDEA ICE-3000 quality inspector, an AS9120 lead auditor, and a member of the American Society for Quality and American Society for Training and Development.

Sanggaren has a strong quality engineering and management background spanning nearly three decades. He joined World Micro after last serving for four years as QA manager at Venture in Penang. During his career, Sanggaren has amassed numerous certifications related to ISO audits, quality management systems, and measurement systems analysis.

As World Micro's west coast arm, Gan's primary duties are to introduce the company's strengths to an existing customer base and to develop and leverage existing supplier sources in order to grow the company's franchise lines. Gan will place particular emphasis on memory products. Gan joins World Micro after having spent over fifteen years at SMART Modular, Inc. and Partminer, Inc., where he built his experience in both component sourcing and selling. Because of a multi-cultural upbringing, Gan has learned to speak five languages, which will allow him to reach out to a wider customer base.

"To match current market conditions, we have to ensure we have the right amount of people in the right positions," said Dan Ellsworth, president and CEO of World Micro. "Chris Brooks has proven himself as a true quality leader during his tenure, Mahendran comes to us with spectacular credentials, and Nick has tremendous experience in memory and component sales. These additions allow us to increase our franchise and factory direct business while staying laser focused on cost savings opportunities and quality initiatives from the open market," added Ellsworth.
