World Rivers Day Celebrates Ninth Annual Global Event

Media are invited to attend World Rivers Day events at Burnaby Village Museum

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Sept. 26, 2013) -


In celebration of World Rivers Day on Sunday, September 29, World Rivers Day Chair, Mark Angelo, will join school children and dignitaries on the banks of Deer Lake Brook. This creek runs through the Village, and was the site of last year's salmon miracle which saw spawning salmon returning to the brook for the first time in decades.

Event activities include:

  • Children's fishing pond
  • Live birds of prey
  • "Living with Coyotes" presentation
  • Nylon Zoo for children
  • Educational and interpretive activities along Deer Lake Brook
  • Interactive displays


Sunday, September 29

11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Dignitaries will be speaking at 1 p.m.
