NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 13, 2010) - On the heels of a World Series of Poker Main Event sixth place finish, professional poker player and investment banker Steven Begleiter will use his newfound recognition to help raise money and awareness around a deserving cause. On 27 January, at 7PM, Begleiter will host the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund Charity Poker Tournament at the Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum on Pier 86 at West 46th Street and 12th Avenue in New York. Co-host and title sponsor Tom Marano, Head of Capital Markets at GMACFS and CEO of GMAC Rescap, professional poker players Kevin Schaffel, Eric Buchman, Dennis Phillips and Victor Ramdin will also attend. The winner of the poker tournament will receive a $10,000 main event seat to the world's most prestigious tournament in Las Vegas.

A cocktail reception, followed by dinner, entertainment, and silent and live auctions will take place before the tournament. Proceeds will benefit the construction of The National Intrepid Center of Excellence, a state-of-the-art facility for treating wounded heroes suffering from traumatic brain injury.

"I feel very strongly about supporting the brave men and women who sacrifice for our nation," stated Begleiter. "This is a heartfelt cause that truly affects all of us as Americans." He added, "The support we've received from people like Tom Marano has been invaluable."

Tournament seats are $750. Spectator entry is $250. The IFHF fundraiser is a Maverick Events production. Contact Candace Jarkow at or Sarah Grasso at for more information and sponsorship opportunities.
