World Series Tickets Hit a Home Run in TicketNews' October Events Rankings

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire - Nov 8, 2011) - Although the St. Louis Cardinals bested the Texas Rangers on the field during the World Series, it was the Rangers who triumphed in TicketNews' exclusive events rankings, compiled from October 1-31.

The Rangers only hosted three of the World Series' seven games, but those tickets sold well enough for the team to finish second overall in October's rankings. Texas initially held a lead of three games to two, but couldn't close out the Cardinals when the Series returned to St. Louis for Games 6 and 7. The Cardinals' four home games in the Series didn't rank as high as those of their counterpart, but they still finished the month at No. 8.

After landing at No. 9 in September's rankings, Bob Seger jumped into the Top 5 for October, finishing in fourth overall. In October, Seger added dates to the second leg of his 2011 tour, which began November 2 at Eastern Michigan University.

Other musical heavyweights to hit the road last month were Jay-Z and Kanye West (No. 14), whose Watch the Throne Tour launched October 28, and Sting (No. 18), whose Back to Bass Tour began October 21.

Events to Watch in November:

  • After two sold-out shows in New York City this September, Radiohead has announced initial dates for a 2012 tour. With fan club presales beginning November 9 and public onsales opening November 12, the band is expected to perform strongly in the month's rankings.
  • Seasonal favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Radio City Christmas Spectacular finished October in fifth and sixth place, respectively. As the holidays draw closer, both should maintain their steady ticket sales through November.
  • If the NBA owners and players can reach an agreement to end the current lockout, which has already cost them some of the season, the initial rush on tickets could land the league's more popular teams in the Top 20 for November.
