World Summit Award Honors World's Best in e-Content and Innovation

Mexico to Host Gala Events From September 2-5, 2009

SALZBURG, AUSTRIA--(Marketwire - August 31, 2009) - The World Summit Award Office today announced the World Summit Award (WSA) and World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) Winners' Celebrations will take place in Monterrey, Mexico from September 2-5, 2009 in collaboration with the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT Development's (GAID) Global Forum, on the generous invitation of Indigo Brainmedia.

The four-day conference and gala celebration will provide a unique opportunity to meet and connect with WSA and WSYA winners, information and communication (ICT) experts, multimedia producers and young creatives. In addition, government and business leaders will be in attendance to recognize the showcased best practice examples.

Events include:

--  The WSA Winners' Conference where 40 WSA Winners' teams selected from
    approximately 20,000 applications from all over the world will present
    their awarded projects.
--  The Content Caves exhibition, which will offer a platform to present
    the world's best practice examples of innovation in e-Content.
--  The WSA and WSYA Gala Celebration, which is the highlight of the
    entire WSA process for 2008/09 and a unique ceremony honoring excellence in
    multimedia and e-Content creation.

The WSA's global contest on creative content takes place every two years as a follow-on activity to the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). This year 545 national finalists from United Nations Member States were selected by 34 eminent e-Content experts in New Delhi, India. The countries of Australia, Austria, Canada and New Zealand dominated this year's winners' list.
