Worlds Inc. vs. Activision Blizzard Patent Infringement Markman Hearing Completed; Awaiting Ruling, Trial Date

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Oct 6, 2014) - The Markman hearing for the patent infringement suit by Worlds Inc. (OTCQB: WDDD) against Activision Blizzard, Inc., Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Activision Publishing, Inc. (Activision Blizzard et al) (ATVI), was held October 3, 2014 to address various aspects of the infringement suit claims and how the words in the 11 disputed "constructions" in the claims should be construed for jury consideration. The additional purpose is for the court to determine the meaning and intent of the language used in the claims.

As is typical in Markman Hearings, no ruling was issued from the bench by Judge Denise Casper of the United District Court for the District of Massachusetts. The court gave no indication of when it would issue the ruling.

"The Markman Hearing's purpose was solely to focus on the meaning of the words in the claims and not import new meanings or point to infringement," stated Thom Kidrin, CEO of Worlds Inc. "We are pleased with our legal counsel Susman Godfrey's claims construction arguments. The Markman hearing will result in a determination of the meaning of the disputed claim terms, which are the terms that will make the difference in the lawsuit. The definition of terms is critical, as it takes only one claim to be infringed for a finding of infringement."

Kidrin concluded, "With this important step in the litigation process against Activision completed, we look forward to the court's ruling and scheduling the trial date."
