World's Largest Convoy of Hybrid, Advanced Vehicles Quietly Roaring Into Michigan Sept. 28-30

Save the Date for the Clean Truck and Bus Ride & Drive; Experts to Discuss Future of Green Technology in Heavy-Duty Transportation

DEARBORN, MI--(Marketwire - September 9, 2010) -  To mark 10 successful years of advancing the commercialization of green vehicle technology, the Hybrid Truck Users Forum (HTUF) is bringing its 2010 HTUF National Conference and Ride and Drive back to its roots: the Motor City.

Operated by CALSTART under contract to the U.S. Army, the HTUF conference takes place Sept. 28-30, 2010, in Dearborn, MI. The convoy and ride and drive on September 30 provide ideal visuals for media.

HTUF is the nation's leading program driving production and use of medium and heavy-duty hybrid and high-efficiency trucks and buses. It was founded by CALSTART and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center's National Automotive Center (NAC).

"While I'm proud of the work we have accomplished, there is much more to do," explains Paul Skalny, director of the Michigan-based NAC. "This year's convoy promises to be the biggest yet, and I expect the discussions to be a convergence for conversations happening at all levels of the government, at corporations across the country, at leading universities and in truck cabs on our roads today."

Besides serving as the world's premier technical and marketplace event in the advanced truck world, HTUF 2010 features the world's largest medium and heavy-duty hybrid and high-efficiency vehicle ride-and-drive for fleets, attendees and the media. Leading-edge hybrid-electric, hybrid-hydraulic, plug-in hybrid and electric trucks will be available, including some brand new to the market.

Editor's Note: The large collection of high-tech big-rigs provides ideal photo and video opportunities, including:

  • Hybrid and advanced military vehicles
  • Refuse trucks
  • Class 8 tractors
  • Delivery trucks
  • Shuttle and school buses
  • Utility trucks and more.

Media registration is complimentary. Private interviews with experts from CALSTART, the Army, major corporations, and government representatives are available. Media, please visit www.htuf.org to register, or call MK Campbell at 626/744-5602.
