WWF Available for Comment on Degrees of Change Study

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 6, 2010) - WWF-Canada experts are available to comment on the Degrees of Change study released yesterday by the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.

"The report shows how climate change will profoundly affect all Canadians," said Josh Laughren, Climate Change Director, WWF-Canada. "We hope it spurs a discussion at the highest levels on the costs of inaction on climate change, not just on the costs of reducing emissions. We aren't ready to give up yet. We can still avoid the worst effects of climate change – if we choose."

Currently, Canada is one of the top 10 nations contributing to global climate change and, as a large northern country, Canada will suffer the effects the earliest. Canada still does not have a credible national plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. WWF-Canada is determined to help Canada become a global leader by catalyzing a shift to a green economy meeting our energy needs with low-impact renewable resources.
