March 28, 8:15 - 8:30 p.m., corner of Granville St. & Robson St.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 26, 2009) - On Saturday March 28th, Vancouverites can gather to celebrate Earth Hour and demonstrate their support for action on climate change while enjoying some of Canada's best musical talent at the JunoFest Street Party. Mayor Robertson and WWF-Canada will be on hand to lead the count-down and flick the switch at 8:30pm, kicking off Earth Hour 2009 in the city of Vancouver.

"Earth Hour is about demonstrating that we want real action on climate change. Already more than 2,800 cities in 84 countries are signed up to participate in Earth Hour including hundreds of Canadian cities and thousands of individual Canadians," says Gerald Butts, President and CEO, WWF-Canada. "This lights out event is a great place to celebrate together and show your support."

"It's absolutely crucial that we continue to build public awareness about climate change, and Earth Hour is a great way to get people engaged," said Mayor Robertson. "Everybody needs to play a role in taking action - the future of our planet demands it."
