GREENSBORO, NC--(Marketwired - Aug 13, 2013) -  During the Wyndham Championship, female executives and business leaders in the Piedmont Triad community will have an opportunity for professional development and networking at the Executive Women's Day event. Held against the backdrop of the Wyndham Championship, the event takes place on Tuesday, August 13, at Sedgefield Country Club.

The Wyndham Championship is an annual golf tournament on the PGA TOUR and the final stop of the PGA TOUR's FedEx Cup regular season. Attracting more than 80,000 spectators each year, the tournament gives Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN) a platform to connect with the local community.

With women representing 50 percent of its total U.S. workforce and 65 percent of all director-level and above positions, Wyndham Worldwide supports and promotes the professional growth and development of women. The Company offers a variety of programs for female employees, including leadership training programs, mentoring opportunities, a female employee resource group and educational support.

"Wyndham Worldwide's commitment to providing a supportive environment for women at all levels to advance and reach their full professional potential speaks to the company's culture," said Alyson Johnson, senior vice president, marketing and communications, Wyndham Worldwide. "It is extremely gratifying to be a part of such an exciting event that demonstrates and shares the same commitment as Wyndham Worldwide to supporting, developing and connecting female leaders with one another. Golf can be a great common denominator in business as it opens up a whole new world of relationships."

Held at PGA TOUR events throughout the season, the Executive Women's Day event hosts up to 200 women for a day of inspirational speakers, networking and an introduction to golf. Participants will receive a first-class day focused on personal and professional development as well as a behind-the-scenes preview of the Wyndham Championship's hospitality tents, media center, on course activities, including the popular Wyndham Beach and how tournament scores and stats are compiled.

The day kicks-off with a morning session titled "The Power Panel Breakfast," where attendees will hear from a panel of successful business women, including Johnson from Wyndham Worldwide. Dr. Helen Fisher, biological anthropologist and noted author, will discuss gender differences in the brain and behavior, including women's broader, more contextual perspective and their imagination, mental flexibility, intuition, executive social skills, verbal acuity, predisposition for long-term planning and natural capacities for networking and team building. During her presentation, Dr. Fisher will demonstrate how the sexes view power and leadership differently, and how women's skills contribute to the bottom line.

The day will conclude with a networking session where attendees have the opportunity to mingle and make business connections.
