Xeround Launches SQL-Compliant Cloud Database

New Offering Allows Seamless Running of New and Existing MySQL Applications in the Cloud With Elasticity, Scalability and High-Availability

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - September 14, 2010) -  Xeround (www.xeround.com), the Cloud Database company, today officially announced the release of the private beta of its "MySQL for the Cloud" service. Xeround offers an elastic, linearly scalable and always-on relational database that is ideally suited for running applications in infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS) environments.

Service providers, ISVs and customers in the cloud ecosystem encounter various database challenges including the need for elastic usage, slow response times, and data synchronization. While NoSQL databases have gained in popularity and provide some benefits, they lack support for relational data and queries require re-architecting and recoding of existing products. In addition, consistency is not guaranteed and transactions are not supported with NoSQL.

Xeround's unique patented technology brings a new approach to data management in the cloud, aiming at providing the best of both worlds -- the transactional and query capabilities of relational databases with the simplicity and scalability of NoSQL data stores. Designed and architected for the cloud, Xeround's database solution effectively manages multi-tenancy, high-availability, auto-scaling and self-healing, while guaranteeing continuous service during schema changes, resource modifications and the scaling process.

"Before Xeround, you could not elastically scale a database without downtime," said Razi Sharir, CEO of Xeround. "Xeround keeps running during scale and schema changes without a change in performance with no code or architecture changes required."

"Xeround's technology and features make it the best choice for running a SQL database on a cloud infrastructure, be it a public or a private cloud," said Arad Naveh, Managing Partner at Benchmark VC. "And with Xeround's MySQL compatibility, usage is as easy as simply uploading the schema and running it with no changes in code or architecture."

Xeround is available in two configurations: Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) or as a virtual appliance. Offered on Xeround.com and Amazon EC2, for trial/beta purposes, the DBaaS implementation simply requires uploading the database's schema and pointing apps to the new location. It will soon be available on other leading cloud service providers. Xeround Virtual Appliance removes the barriers of running hybrid cloud configurations across private and public clouds.

Software developers and companies who wish to participate in Xeround's private beta can request an invitation at http://xeround.com.
