xG Technology Expanding xMAX® Trial System in Lewisville, Arkansas

Deployment Will Support xG's Efforts to Secure Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Certification and Provide Townes' Customers With Advanced Mobile Services

SARASOTA, FL--(Marketwire - March 15, 2011) - xG® Technology, Inc. (LSE: XGT) ("xG" or the "Company"), the developer of a broad portfolio of wireless communications technologies, including cognitive radio networks, today announced it will be expanding its xMax cognitive cellular network trial with Townes Tele-communications Inc. in Lewisville, Arkansas. Townes has also offered to host an additional xMax network in one of its other rural markets. One or both of these trials will be used to support xG's efforts to secure Rural Utilities Service (RUS) certification. RUS is a division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and provides technical guidance and financial assistance for the delivery of advanced communications services to rural communities. RUS certification will allow xG customers to apply for loans from the RUS to buy xMax equipment and deliver advanced mobile VoIP and broadband services to their customers.

In addition to supporting xG's RUS efforts, Larry Townes, Chairman and CEO of Townes Tele-Communications, has recently become a significant investor in MB Technology Holdings, LLC (a substantial holder of xG's shares).

"I'm impressed with xG's technology, equipment and product direction," said Larry Townes. "xG is bringing solutions to market that rural and independent telcos need to stay competitive, better serve their customers and grow their businesses. We are excited to be expanding our trial network in Lewisville, and welcome the possibility of an additional xMax trial in one of our other markets."

Townes Tele-Communications is a prominent U.S. Independent Local Exchange Carrier with operations in Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Arkansas, Missouri and Florida.

"We are pleased to expand our relationship with a respected industry visionary and rural telecommunications advocate like Larry, and fully support his mission of providing cost-effective, advanced and reliable communications services to rural communities and business," said George Schmitt, xG Director and CEO of MB Technology Holdings.
