Xirrus First to Achieve FIPS Certification for Complete Suite of 802.11ac Wi-Fi Solutions

FIPS 140-2 Assures Government Agencies That Xirrus Products Meet Highest Levels of Security Standards

THOUSAND OAKS, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 11, 2014) - Xirrus, the leading provider of high-performance wireless networks, today announced that its complete portfolio of 802.11ac, 802.11n, and outdoor wireless Access Points and Arrays have achieved FIPS 140-2 certification. This represents the broadest range of FIPS-compliant products in the industry, supporting indoor and outdoor, and low-to-ultra high-density usage scenarios. Xirrus is now listed as fully compliant in the WLAN Access System category on The U.S. National Security Agency / Central Security Service's (NSA's) Commercial Solutions for Classified Program Components List.

The certification complies with the latest, more stringent security requirements required by NIST enacted in 2014. These include RSA key generation, updated OpenSSH and OpenSSL versions, and additional test processes.

FIPS certification represents an important milestone, validating that Xirrus products provide customers secure and robust wireless products and the highest level of validated encryption. FIPS 140-2 is a U.S. government computer security standard used to accredit cryptographic modules and to certify private sector vendor products for use in government departments and regulated industries that collect, store, transfer, share and disseminate sensitive information. FIPS 140-2 validation is a requirement for any cryptographic product that will be used in a U.S. government agency network. The U.S. Federal Government is required to purchase cryptographic products validated to the FIPS 140-2 standard.

The entire Xirrus wireless access portfolio of 29 products, including 12 802.11ac models, achieved the FIPS 140-2 certification, representing the industry's broadest set of Wi-Fi solutions supporting the standard.
