Xirrus Offers Wi-Fi as a Managed Service for K-12 Schools to Benefit From E-Rate 2.0

Enhanced Manage Services Program Provides Wi-Fi-as-a-Service Option to Assist Schools in Securing $5 Billion in E-rate Funds Committed by the FCC

THOUSAND OAKS, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 24, 2014) - Xirrus Wi-Fi Networks, the leading provider of high-performance wireless networks, today announced a new Managed Service Provider (MSP) program for delivering its Wi-Fi solutions to K-12 schools eligible for E-rate 2.0 funding. Launched to support the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) initiative, the new MSP program not only enables Xirrus partners to deliver Wi-Fi-as-a-Service (WaaS), but also provides Wi-Fi-as-a-Purchase options to K-12 schools, both available for reimbursement via the E-rate 2.0 program.

Scalable Wi-Fi for Schools That Lasts 10 Years

Xirrus offers the only Wi-Fi solution that provides a unique patented technology ensuring schools can achieve reliable, high performance wireless that supports thousands of devices connected simultaneously to less access points than any other vendor in the market. In addition, Xirrus Wi-Fi solutions are specifically designed for longevity with the ability to achieve a 10-year lifespan, extending well beyond the current 5-year requirement outlined by the FCC. By deploying Xirrus wireless solutions, K-12 schools are now able, for the first time, to exceed the demands required to support Common Core online testing and all technology initiatives in the digital classroom.

Xirrus Wi-Fi Cloud: Simple to Deploy and Easy to Manage

To help schools make the most of their funding, Xirrus offers ultra affordable, highly scalable, Wi-Fi solutions that are simple to deploy, easy to manage and adapt to network requirements over time. With the new MSP program, high performance Wi-Fi is now more affordable than ever for schools. Coupled with an easy to use cloud based management system, the result is a simple and intuitive platform for schools deploying and managing the demands of students, teachers and faculty. Xirrus' simple and intuitive web-based interface eliminates network complexity and allows schools to deploy an entire network in one day with minimal resources.

"With the explosion of information and learning tools available to schools today, Wi-Fi is no longer a nice-to-have, it's a must-have," said Bruce Miller, vice president of product marketing for Xirrus. "By offering Wi-Fi-as-a-Service through our MSP partners, Xirrus is enabling schools to focus more on what they do best -- delivering a fulfilling learning experience to their students. This delivers a win-win for any school benefiting from E-rate 2.0 funding to upgrade their Internet infrastructure."

Schools today often lack the funding and resources required to upgrade their technology infrastructure, especially when it comes to delivering ubiquitous Wi-Fi access. According to the Education Superhighway survey, 72 percent of K-12 public schools in the U.S. still do not have sufficient Internet infrastructure.

"The enhanced Xirrus MSP program enables us to deliver complete managed services, supporting federal initiatives and to meet the growing demand for exceptional Wi-Fi in schools," said Shane Moulton, CEO at Optix. "Together with Xirrus, we can help schools that are pushing the boundaries of learning and challenging traditional technology infrastructure by delivering best-in-class Wi-Fi solutions for even the most demanding environments. The new option of E-rate 2.0 being applied to WaaS, coupled with a cloud based solution from Xirrus eliminates the challenges of installation and management, and minimizes the IT support of the wireless network for schools."

The window for applying for 2015 E-rate 2.0 funds is now open with the new Form 470 application available on the USAC web site at: http://www.slforms.universalservice.org/Form470Expert/Search_FundYear_Select.aspx
