XO Communications Announces Webinar: Enterprise IT Takes on the Cloud -- Lessons Learned

Independent Study Shows That Companies Need a Unified Cloud and Network Strategy to Maximize Full Benefits of Cloud Computing

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Oct 7, 2013) - A commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of XO Communications and Juniper Networks showed that only 20% of IT professionals said they were very satisfied with the cloud providing them with a fast and easy set of resources. Despite this shortfall, less than half said their organization had upgraded or refreshed their network in the last three years. To help IT and network leaders address these challenges, XO Communications today announced that it will host a free business webinar on Wednesday, October 9 to address these survey findings. In the session, guest speaker Andre Kindness, principal analyst and a leading expert on network operations and architecture with Forrester Research, Inc., will discuss the independent study in more detail.

Webinar attendees will obtain crucial data from enterprise IT decision-makers who have implemented cloud services, and seen the effect on their networks. These insights will help IT decision-makers to build a business case for better alignment of network investments with cloud adoption plans. Key questions to be answered include:

  • How can the network address performance and security challenges inherent in the cloud deployments?
  • How can IT support the requirements of application and business stakeholders for multiple services in a hybrid cloud environment?
  • Who can you work with to manage the complexity of creating an agile, scalable, high-performance network?

BACKGROUND
The September 2013 commissioned study, "Building for the Future: What the New World of Cloud IT Means for the Network" examined current cloud technology adoption trends, application usage types in the cloud, satisfaction levels with expected benefits, and the impacts cloud services are having on the enterprise network. The study surveyed more than 150 IT decision makers at companies with more than 500 employees across several industries.

Key Findings of the Study:

  • More than 75% of enterprises are or are planning to use some type of cloud-based service;
  • Although 88% of IT decision makers believe cloud-based services will have an impact on the network, less than half of them said their organization had upgraded their network in the last three years.
  • In order to improve the value of their cloud services and accommodate the impact of cloud services on the network, the majority of IT organizations have had to upgrade their company's networks.
