XO Communications Recognized as Leading Ethernet Services Provider

Vertical Systems Group Names XO Communications as One of the Top Business Ethernet Providers Nationwide

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Sep 10, 2013) - XO Communications announced today that it has been recognized by Vertical Systems Group, a leading industry analyst firm, for its business Ethernet services leadership performance. Vertical Systems Group ranked XO Communications as one of the top six Ethernet providers in the industry in its mid-year 2013 U.S. Business Ethernet Services Leaderboard.

"The recognition of XO Communications leadership performance in U.S. business Ethernet services demonstrates our commitment to deliver to our customers cost effective, scalable, high-speed Ethernet access options with extensive nationwide coverage," said Don MacNeil, chief marketing officer at XO Communications.

"The U.S. market for Carrier Ethernet services continues to grow and is on track for another record year," said Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group. "We are pleased to acknowledge XO Communications as one of the top ranked competitive providers on our Ethernet Leaderboard." Ethernet port shares were calculated using the base of enterprise installations of Ethernet services, plus input from Vertical Systems Group's independent surveys of Ethernet providers.

XO Communications offers a broad range of high-speed Ethernet access options at up to 100 Gbps allowing it to deliver the company's portfolio of VoIP, network, security and cloud-based services. XO Communications operates one of the largest Ethernet access networks, with the ability to reach nearly two million U.S. business locations. In addition to offering Ethernet-based services over its extensive nationwide fiber optic network, XO Communications has been a pioneer in providing business and wholesale customers with more cost-effective alternative Ethernet access options including extensive use of Ethernet over Copper (EoC) technology. This enables XO Communications to utilize existing last mile copper infrastructure to deliver Ethernet access from 3 Mbps to up to 100 Mbps, supporting significantly more bandwidth for more customers at lower costs compared to other access options.
