Xperiel Raises $7 Million From Leading Silicon Valley Players to Advance Real World Web

Los Angeles Dodgers and Google Board Members Among First Investors to Back Former Google Engineers' Real World Web Platform

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 11, 2016) - Xperiel, inventor of the Real World Web (RWW) platform, today announced $7 million in initial funding led by investors including several Google Board members and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The company will use the investment to further advance its cloud-based platform, a key component needed to deliver mixed reality experiences to consumers through the RWW. Additionally, the company plans to grow its sales and marketing organization and to recruit top engineering and executive leadership talent to its rapidly growing team.

"Return on investment in digital infrastructures and brick-and-mortar facilities has reached a plateau, forcing organizations to seek new ways to increase revenue and customer lifetime value. The IoT could unleash billions of dollars worth of unrealized economic potential, but until Xperiel, no one had created the radical technology required to make this a reality," said Brad O'Neill, Xperiel founding investor and SVP at SurveyMonkey. "The Xperiel cloud-based platform is a game changing innovation. By orchestrating interactions between any physical, digital or IoT-connected asset, Xperiel has introduced the engine to power the Real World Web."

Bringing the RWW to Life
The RWW brings mixed reality experiences to consumers by unifying the physical and digital worlds. The Xperiel platform provides the tools for building and hosting the RWW, making it possible to connect all hardware and software -- past, present and future -- to the IoT, build cloud-based applications and deliver mixed reality experiences to consumers across any OS or connected device.

Founded by the inventors of Walleto, which was acquired by Google to become the basis of Google Wallet, brothers Alex Hertel, CEO, and Philipp Hertel, CTO, developed Xperiel's ground-breaking technology as an offshoot of their Ph.D. research originally conducted at the University of Toronto in 2008 under the tutelage of Turing Award winner Stephen Cook. Since founding the company, major consumer brands and professional sports teams including PepsiCo, the Los Angeles Dodgers and others have put Xperiel into production to deliver RWW experiences to fans and target audiences through their mobile devices. By connecting digital and physical assets -- including everything from stadium scoreboards to signage in major cities to social channels and television -- these brands are delivering memorable, interactive experiences that increase fan engagement, reward brand loyalty and participation, and improve sales.

"Brands want to reach consumers through untethered mobile channels with real-time, relevant experiences that improve engagement and revenue. However, the constraints of 'pop-up' marketing and advertising technologies, costly and time-consuming development cycles, and the inability to fully leverage the IoT have caused most organizations to miss out on valuable opportunities," said Xperiel CEO Alex Hertel. "With the Xperiel platform, our customers are radically reducing the time and cost required to develop and launch applications, engaging their audiences with compelling and effective content, and blanketing their physical real estate and digital assets with a universal fabric that connects everything to the IoT."

Additional early-stage investors include Stanford President John Hennessy, Intuit cofounder Scott Cook, Dave Scially of the Golden State Warriors, professional baseball team owner Gary Green and Uber cofounder Garrett Camp.

In addition to this news, Xperiel today announced general availability of its platform. To learn more about Xperiel visit www.xperiel.com.

About Xperiel
Xperiel brings the Real World Web (RWW) to life. The RWW is where the physical and digital worlds converge to provide mixed reality experiences for consumers across any OS or mobile device. To orchestrate the RWW, the inventors of Google Wallet technology built the Xperiel platform, comprised of a universal trigger fabric, device-agnostic applications in the cloud and an all new graphical programming language based on the founders' original Ph.D. research. Xperiel makes it possible for users to quickly build device-agnostic applications in the cloud that are contextually aware and can communicate with real world and online triggers. A trigger is an activation point that signals Xperiel to deliver immersive, customized experiences to individuals via their mobile phones, wearables, virtual reality technology or any connected device. Xperiel's patented, easy-to-use graphical programming language opens the door for non-technical people to develop applications in less than an hour, radically compressing the time and cost it takes to build IoT apps. Xperiel changes the way people can and will interact with a completely connected world. Companies in industries spanning professional sports, entertainment, retail and more are using the Xperiel platform to maximize the value of their IoT investments. Organizations including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pepsico use Xperiel to deliver engaging experiences via the RWW that ensure loyalty while increasing revenue opportunities.
