Xtreme Energy Makeover Opens Its Doors

San Diegans See Tremendous Energy Saving Opportunities First Hand

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - March 26, 2008) - San Diegans looking to cut energy costs in today's economy now have an incredible resource right in their own backyard. The nation's first Xtreme Energy Makeover opens its doors to the public in Del Cerro on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

The Xtreme Energy Makeover is a great chance for anyone interested in reducing their energy bills, planning on a home remodel, or simply wanting to go green this spring.

Unlike many new construction projects, Xtreme Energy Makeover takes an existing home, and transforms it into a modern example of extreme energy efficiency, demonstrating a host of opportunities for homes, especially those built before 1979.

The free Open House event will feature many state-of-the-art energy-saving products including: solar energy, new high-technology windows, new Energy Star® appliances, a tankless and solar water heater, a whole house fan, energy-saving pool pump, decorative energy-efficient lighting, a new HVAC unit, water conservation measures -- to name just a few. Available all day will be:

-- Guided and self-guided tours of the Xtreme Energy Makeover home
-- Energy experts and educational materials to answer questions
-- Trade booths featuring energy-efficient products
-- Prize drawing for a FREE Energy Star® refrigerator
-- Rebate information and FREE compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL)

"We are thrilled to debut Xtreme Energy Makeover in San Diego," said Tom Barrett, vice president at RHA, the management company administering the project for SDG&E, a Sempra Utility. "With so many homes in Southern California built during an era that did not consider energy efficiency a key factor, today's consumer needs the best energy renovation options, and Xtreme Energy Makeover delivers."

The Xtreme Energy Makeover Project is a demonstration project designed to develop and provide cost-effective, energy-saving renovation information to contractors, builders, and homeowners seeking to reduce energy usage in older, single-family homes built before the State of California's energy code (Title 24) took effect. The project will demonstrate energy saving techniques and energy efficient equipment to educate ratepayers in San Diego Gas & Electric Company's service territory, thereby creating energy reductions through cost-effective energy renovations, targeting energy consuming appliances, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and structural components.

Xtreme Energy Makeover Open House will be held on April 5, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. located at 6638 Cibola Road, San Diego. For more information or specific details on the Xtreme Energy Makeover please call (858) 514-4025 or visit
