Yahoo! Helps Canadian Women 'Shine' With New Lifestyle Website

Yahoo! Canada's Shine Provides Women With Unique Lifestyle News and Perspective

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2011) - ADVERTISING WEEK - Yahoo! Canada today announced the launch of Yahoo! Shine (, a website dedicated to women's lifestyle topics, providing a unique perspective on issues ranging from fashion and beauty to parenting and healthy living. In addition to articles, blogs, and videos by Shine staff and contributors, the site also includes articles from many of Canada's most popular publications, including Chatelaine, Today's Parent, and Flare.

Yahoo! Shine is the latest in a string of launches as Yahoo! continues to create highly compelling content destinations. Late last year, Yahoo! Canada greatly enhanced Yahoo! News and Yahoo! "Yahoo! Shine brings originality and a prominent voice on all of the latest lifestyle news Canadian women crave. Connecting Advertisers With Highly Engaged and Targeted Audiences

Yahoo! Shine was first introduced in the U.S. in 2007, and quickly gained a local following — the site now has nearly 30 million unique visitors per month in the United States(1). Building on this success, Yahoo! Shine is coming to Canada as a comprehensive destination to reach and engage the coveted female demographic, many of whom already turn to Yahoo! for other content and products.

More than 6.5 million Canadian women ages 25 to 54 visit Yahoo! Canada every month. This demographic is highly sought after by advertisers, as it is comprised of heavy Internet users who usually make the household purchasing decisions. Yahoo! Shine creates an opportunity for advertisers to target this audience in an environment that is relevant and meaningful to women who lead busy lives and do not have a great deal of free time on their hands.
