Yammer Announces New Mobile Applications to Accelerate the Mobile Enterprise

Yammer's Mobile Solution Enables Virtual Work and Global Access for Knowledge Workers

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Sep 22, 2011) - Yammer, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise social networking, today at Forrester's Content & Collaboration Forum 2011 announced a new version of its Android application, adding features such as threaded conversations, the ability to upload and view photos, and more robust private messaging, making it easier to participate in business conversations while working remotely. The new version of the Android application is expected to be available for download in the Android Market next week. Yammer also recently released an update to the iOS application and plans to release an application for Windows Phone Mango and an update to its BlackBerry application later this month.

As organizations become increasingly geographically distributed, the demand for workforce mobility is also rising. According to a Forrester Research report, 41 percent of information workers have demonstrated a high need for mobility.1 To meet the needs of the mobile enterprise, Yammer provides a consistent, social and collaborative workplace experience across platforms, including Apple's iOS, Google's Android, RIM's QNX, and Microsoft's Windows Phone, giving knowledge workers the ability to do business wherever they are.

In a recent July 2011 Forrester Research report titled, "Mobilize Your Collaboration Strategy," it says, "Employees bring personal devices to work and expect to be able to use them." As a result, a variety of mobile devices have entered the workplace, and vendors must offer multidevice support in order to meet the requirements of the mobile workforce. Because Yammer is a cloud-based solution, it can natively deliver its enterprise social networking service to a broad range of mobile devices. For the same reason, Yammer is able to frequently update its mobile applications to keep up with the current demands of mobile workers.

By providing a social and collaborative enterprise solution, Yammer strives to increase workforce productivity. Extending the service to mobile devices further advances productivity gains, enabling employees to do work from home, off-site meetings, or while traveling. Senior staff members, who travel frequently and need a way to remain connected to their teams from afar, are among the greatest benefactors of Yammer's mobile offering.

Yammer helps more than three million users communicate and collaborate with their coworkers. Companies such as ReachLocal and Initiative Media are building mobile workforces and gaining value from Yammer's mobile services. For example, ReachLocal's global sales force of Internet Marketing Consultants rely heavily on Yammer's mobile applications while on the road selling. Initiative Media executives also use Yammer on their mobile devices, so they can participate in conversations while away from the office.

"Initiative executives are actively using Yammer's iPad app to stay connected," said Lawrence De Voe, senior vice president and chief technology catalyst, Initiative Media. "Executives are on the road over half the time, so having a tool that lets us keep a pulse on what's happening on the ground floor of the business is incredibly valuable."

Yammer was named a Leader in enterprise mobile collaboration by Forrester Research Inc., a leading independent research firm, in an August 2011 report: "The Forrester Wave™: Mobile Collaboration, Q3 2011." According to Forrester, vendors in the Leader category have a strong mobile current offering, proven strategic intent with mobility, and significant market presence. Forrester identified several critical requirements of today's mobile workforce, including low latency, cloud reach and platform support. Yammer is acknowledged as a leading vendor for its commitment to tablet and smartphone platforms and for executing a strategy that closely aligns with client needs, as determined by Forrester.

"Mobile productivity is a critical initiative for enterprises driven by the rapid adoption of mobile devices in the workplace and increasing workforce distribution," said David Sacks, founder and CEO, Yammer. "At Yammer, we believe that knowledge workers should be able to connect and collaborate with their coworkers, regardless of location or device they've chosen to use. This is why Yammer is focused on delivering its enterprise social networking functionality to a range of devices and providing frequent upgrades to stay current with the demands of mobile workers."

Today at 4:15pm ET, David Stewart, Yammer's vice president of platform, is speaking on the "Mobile Content and Collaboration: The Vendors' Point of View" panel at Forrester's Content & Collaboration Forum 2011 in Boston. During the session, David will share critical insights about building a mobile enterprise, Yammer's mobile strategy and customer successes using Yammer mobile applications.
