Yammer Appoints Enterprise Social Networking Strategist, Developer Advocate and Vice President of Communications
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2011) - Yammer, Inc., the leader in enterprise social networking, today announced the appointment of Greg Lowe, former social media and collaboration architect and strategist at Alcatel-Lucent to enterprise social networking strategist; Mikeal Rogers to the role of developer advocate; and the promotion of Dee Anna McPherson to vice president of communications.
In his new role, Lowe will be primarily involved with customer engagement, providing support and feedback during the rollout process and beyond. While at Alcatel-Lucent, Lowe coached executives on how to leverage social business practices in order to improve internal communications. In addition, he led the creation of the company's Yammer network, which included the participation of more than 10,000 employees, resulting in increased collaboration and communication.
Lowe also took part in the company-wide, cross-organizational Collaboration and Knowledge Management team, identifying gaps and issues with collaboration tools and behaviors, saving the company $1 million by consolidating multiple projects.
Before joining Alcatel-Lucent, Lowe held leadership roles at Entology, Inc., Tiffany & Co., Prudential and Merrill Lynch.
"I have been engaged with Yammer since the launch and am excited to work with them to drive change and innovation in organizations through social collaboration," said Lowe. "Yammer's commitment to providing the best product to customers by listening to the business challenges they face on a daily basis, is a big part of the reason I am joining the team. I saw the Yammer groundswell at Alcatel-Lucent and how it brought a new level of teamwork to the company, and I'm motivated to share that experience with others."
In addition to customer engagement and collaboration, Yammer is focused on creating an ecosystem of third-party applications and strategic integrations built on its platform. In his position as Developer Advocate, Rogers will serve as a dedicated resource for increasing the pipeline of applications built on the Yammer platform by customers, strategic partners and the broader developer community.
Rogers will also serve as an advocate for developers internally at Yammer and have influence over product and platform strategy, as well as lead the Yammer external developer network, providing guidance on tools and issues.
Rogers has also worked as a developer and engineer at CouchOne, Mozilla Corp. and the Open Source Applications Foundation.
In her new role as vice president of communications, McPherson joins Yammer's executive team and will continue to build brand awareness and thought leadership for the company within the enterprise social networking space. She will also help create and manage Yammer's customer advisory program, which will provide yet another line of communication for customers to share feedback and ideas.
McPherson brings more than 15 years of technology communications experience to her role. Prior to joining Yammer, McPherson was head of Horn Group's San Francisco office where she led a team of communications professionals specializing in digital communications for technology companies. Previously, she led worldwide public relations for PeopleSoft and was a senior vice president/deputy general manager at Edelman. McPherson holds a B.A. in Communications from Purdue University.
"As we continue to compete in an innovative and increasingly competitive market, it is important for us to keep developing and building a team of passionate and dedicated individuals," said David Sacks, founder and CEO at Yammer. "I'm thrilled to promote Dee Anna and add Greg and Mikeal to the team to fuel our next phase of growth."
