Yammer Integrates With

CRM Activity Streams Will Appear Inside Yammer

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 23, 2011) - Yammer, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise social networking, today announced a new integration with built on the and Yammer platforms that enables activity streams from to appear inside Yammer. users who have installed the app can automatically receive stories in Yammer about changes to their CRM data and collaborate in real-time with their colleagues about this information.

The integration allows users to follow any native object such as an opportunity, lead, campaign, event or contract in the Yammer Activity Stream, helping employees and executives alike to stay on top of critical deals, campaigns, and customer relationships in Yammer's dynamic, secure environment. Whereas is primarily used by employees in the sales department, Yammer -- an enterprise-wide social platform -- allows CRM activity to be easily socialized and discussed with colleagues across the entire company.

This new integration is powered by Yammer's Activity Stream API, which enables any business application to publish activity stories into Yammer as long as it has the consent of the company administrator. Based on an extension of the Open Graph Protocol originally developed by Facebook, Yammer's API is analogous to the Facebook API that allows consumer applications such as Zynga to push activity stories into the Facebook News Feed. However, Yammer's API is intended for secure enterprise data, and includes new features to preserve the data's privacy and permissions settings from the underlying application. Yammer also uses a relevancy algorithm to batch related activity stories and reduce noise.

As a growing number of departmental applications like add activity feeds, the Yammer Activity Stream provides a central hub to aggregate this data, so it can be shared with employees around the company without requiring all of those employees to sign up for an account in each departmental app. By providing a single destination to view a summary of activity from all applications that employees use, Yammer also reduces the need to navigate into each application individually in order to receive critical insights. In May 2011, NetSuite was the first enterprise application to announce an integration with Yammer, allowing activity streams from NetSuite to flow into Yammer.

"Yammer is a superset of business activity feeds," said David Sacks, founder and CEO, Yammer. "As more enterprise applications add activity feeds, it becomes important to bring them together in a central place where it's easy to collaborate. The alternative is that every departmental app becomes its own social network, creating more silos across the enterprise. Customers are looking for a single feed to rule them all, and Yammer is in the best position to do that as the best-of-breed enterprise social network."

"The value of connecting enterprise social technologies to other IT investments is clear. Seamless workplace experiences mean fewer interruptions, less task switching, and less time searching, all of which translates into productivity gains for the highly paid information worker," wrote Rob Koplowitz, Vice President and Principal Analyst, Forrester Research, Inc., in the report Integration: The Next Frontier for Enterprise Social (April 2011).

Yammer's horizontal focus as a social platform for enterprise-wide collaboration is reflected by its rapid growth. The company recently announced over three million verified corporate seats after just three years in business.

The integration with is available to Yammer customers in private beta this month and will be generally available later this year.
