Yangtze Telecom Announces a New Member to the Board of Directors

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 4, 2005) - Yangtze Telecom Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SMS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Haiping Zou to its Board of Directors at the Company's Annual General Meeting on September 29, 2005.

A graduate of Guangzhou Naval Academy with a Bachelor degree, Mr. Zou has been a senior executive since 1990 in mercantile shipping, property development, petroleum refinery and since 2001, in technology, and the credit guaranty and surety business in China. With his broad background and experience in a variety of industries, we are confident that the addition of Mr. Zou to our board will bring to the Company added management depth and business acumen in our operations in China. In the recently announced private placement (at $0.18 per share) that the Company is in the process of finalizing, Mr. Zou accounts for 4 millions shares out of a total of 12 millions shares that have been subscribed for, to date.

Also arising from the Annual Meeting, Yangtze Telecom announces the discontinuance of Ken Wang as a director of the Company. Mr. Wang was instrumental in the Company's reverse takeover of Wuhan Chengxi Information Technology, and Company management extends their appreciation to Mr. Wang for all of his efforts on behalf of the Company.
