Yangtze Telecom Provides Update on Distance Learning Business and Credit Management System

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 12, 2005) - Yangtze Telecom Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SMS) is pleased to announce the successful rollout of a Distance Management Training Program commencing in late May 2005. The Program consists of four separate courses - Chief Financial Officer, International Planning Manager, International Professional Manager and International Business Negotiator. The CFO course, offered at 9280 RMB per person, was developed under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and in conjunction with renowned experts in the field of finance and accounting including those from Beijing National Accounting Institute. The other three courses, all offered at 6500 RMB per person, were organized in partnership with American Certification Institute in China (Exchange rate: C$/RMB equals 6.7 approx.).

"The initial response to our Management Training Program was very encouraging. It underscores the rising demand for management education as China evolves from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. The influx of foreign businesses not only increases dramatically the need for well trained managers, but it also puts pressure on all managers to upgrade themselves to keep pace with the competition," said Kevin He, CEO of China United Telecom Technology Company (UTT). UTT is 65% owned by Yangtze Telecom and 35%, China Business Cybercast (CBC) which is in turn a subsidiary of China Enterprises Confederation, a large quasi-government body with 500,000 enterprise members. UTT is active in the Credit Management and Distance Learning businesses and has an interest in a wireless TV business in Mongolia, which utilizes the data broadcast technology developed by CBC.

Interest in the Company's Credit Management System has also grown steadily in the last two months. The second Credit Management Training seminar was held in Xining in June at the invitation of the local city government. On July 1st, the CMS system was also promoted in a large conference organized by the State Economic & Trade Commission in Yantai attended by many large enterprises in the city.

"We are very pleased with the widespread acceptance of the Credit Management System. By August 8th, the number of applicants has increased to 116 from about 70 in June. While we experienced a temporary bottleneck in allocating our resources to the process of converting applicants into members in the last couple of months, we have no doubt that we are on our way to building a nationwide Credit System that is particularly befitting the current state of the Chinese economy," said Kevin He, CEO of UTT.
