Year-End Ceremonies at Royal Military College Saint-Jean

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 19, 2012) - Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) marked the end of the academic year with a parade this morning after some 120 officer cadets were presented with college certificate or diploma in a Convocation Ceremony yesterday evening.

"RMC Saint-Jean provides officer cadets with an outstanding curriculum, which is based on academics, leadership, athletics and bilingualism," said Colonel Guy Maillet, RMC Saint-Jean Commandant. "The Convocation highlights the officer cadets' achievements in the academic field, and the parade underscores their success in all four components. We are extremely proud of our officer cadets, of our curriculum and of our dedicated personnel that make it all happen."

Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk, presided over today's parade, during which officer cadets wore the traditional red scarlet uniform. Major-General (retired) Jerry Pitzul, former Canadian Forces Judge Advocate General and RMC Saint-Jean graduate, attended yesterday's Convocation as the guest of honour.

After completing their college-level programmes at RMC Saint-Jean, officer cadets then pursue their university studies at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario.

RMC Saint-Jean provides officer cadets with a better transition from high school to university by providing college-level and first-year university programmes in Science and Social Science. Each programme is offered in the candidate's first official language.

The mission of RMC Saint-Jean is to prepare officer cadets for successful careers as commissioned officers in the Canadian Forces through the quality of its academic, leadership, sports and bilingualism programmes.
