Yeast Culture Manufacturer Vi-COR®'s Research-Proven Products Improve Livestock Gut Health

MASON CITY, IA--(Marketwire - Jul 6, 2011) - Vi-COR®, a manufacturer of specialized yeast culture products for poultry, swine and dairy feed, has announced research results that demonstrate Celmanax® has the ability to enhance livestock gut health. In-house experiments proved the ability of Celmanax Dry, Liquid and SCP to agglutinate forms of pathogenic E. coli and Salmonella sp. One of the important metabolites in Celmanax, Mannan Oligosaccharide (MOS), plays an important role in preventing infections by some pathogenic bacteria by agglutinating them (causing them to clump together) and preventing them from binding to the host tissue. In other experiments, Celmanax bound mycotoxins and inhibited infection. "Experiments conducted by our microbiologist and independent laboratories prove that adding Celmanax to livestock feed can improve gut health and reduce likelihood of infections," says Mark Holt, Vi-COR president and CEO.

A great deal of emphasis is placed on genetics in today's livestock production. Holt explains that Vi-COR's products work hand-in-hand with this approach. "Our technical development team formulates products to maximize those genetic capabilities," he says. Research and development have been Holt's mantra since he purchased Vi-COR in 1999. He led the company through the rapid development of new products and technologies. Vi-COR was the first company to develop a highly concentrated yeast culture, first to develop a liquid yeast culture and first to develop a soluble concentrated powder. It was also the first company to identify, disclose and refine many of the metabolites associated with yeast culture-based products.
