York ASD Partnership to Host York Region Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Summit

Randy Lewis, Renowned Author and Business Leader, to Keynote the Event

YORK REGION, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 24, 2014) - The York ASD Partnership is hosting the York Region Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Summit on April 30, 2014. The ASD Summit will include two service streams to address the needs of both children and adults with an ASD. The event will feature an informative panel on ABA services in York Region. The keynote speaker - Randy Lewis, former VP of Walgreens and author of "No Greatness Without Goodness: How a Father's Love Changed a Company and Sparked a Movement" - will focus on employment for adults with an ASD.

The ASD Summit is open to community-based organizations, school systems, ministry personnel, and professionals that touch the lives of people with an ASD. Parents of children and adults with an ASD will have an opportunity at the event to influence the next phase of service planning by the York ASD Partnership. The event will feature interactive exhibits, and will also showcase the talents of those with an ASD.

Spokespersons from the York ASD Partnership will also be providing insights on the accomplishments that have been achieved since the launch of the organization's Coordinated Access System. The Coordinated Access System ensures that a call to a partner agency leads those with an ASD and/or their families to the appropriate resource and action. It provides warm transfers and introductions to the appropriate service connections according to their specific needs. It also delivers a continuum of coordinated services through the use of electronic Single Plans of Care, ensuring that the right agencies have immediate access to important information about the individual or family's particular needs and concerns.
