York Telecom Works With Army on Disaster Response System

Scalable NOC Allows for Rapid Response in Any Situation

EATONTOWN, NJ--(Marketwire - September 15, 2009) - York Telecom, a leading global provider of visual communications services and solutions, has worked with the US Army North (USARNORTH) Command to create a state-of-the-art Network Operations Center (NOC) to better serve the United States during the event of a natural disaster.

USARNORTH is DOD's premier land-based Homeland Defense response force. They are comprised of a team of highly skilled professionals and work closely with agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate any requests for Department of Defense assistance from local and state officials. USARNORTH was searching for a competent resource to develop a NOC that could accommodate their ever changing needs.

"As the DOD's Joint Forces Land Component Command (JFLCC) for Defense Support to Civil Authorities and Consequence Management within the United States, we were provided with tremendous support and insight by York Telecom in the development and integration of the ARNORTH NOC," said Colonel Quill Ferguson of the United States Army North. "We are now able to better manage our fixed and deployed networks and provide Commanders at all levels, the ability to share information at the right time and place to stop or lessen the suffering and loss of property of American citizens during natural or manmade disasters."

York Telecom came highly recommended to the Fort Sam Houston based command by another high profile command for which York Telecom created a Network Operations Center (NOC). York Telecom was a valuable resource because of their significant past performances within the DOD community and their knowledge of secure integration in the creation of both video and network operations centers.

"This is another example of the work performed within our continuity of operations planning and disaster recovery practice," said Ken Scaturro, Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development for York Telecom. "We have the ability to see the vision with our customers and translate it into a viable communications solution with the associated operational processes and procedures."

York Telecom was able to provide for ARNORTH a NOC in which they could proactively manage and troubleshoot the video conferencing infrastructure as well as the management for all of their network services including voice, data, visual and network security. Through York Telecom's low risk approach they were able to consolidate two existing spaces into one Command and Control Center (C2). They created an open, scalable, flexible and reliable architecture able to accommodate expansion and next generation visual communication upgrades.
