TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 29, 2011) - Yorktown Family Services will honour John Tory for his passion, dedication and commitment to volunteerism with their prestigious Humanitarian Award for Community Service. The 12th annual Yorktown Family Services Tribute Dinner will take place in the company of more than 300 guests on Thursday, April 14th, 2011 at Toronto's Acadian Court. Mr. Tory is being recognized by Yorktown Family Services for his unselfish devotion to community service. His biography of charitable involvement spans 30 years and includes countless children's and family initiatives. He has taken roles in many fundraising campaigns including the first hospital campaign to achieve 100% physician participation and he was the founding chair of United Way Toronto's Major Giving Program.
John Tory shares Yorktown's dedication to helping children and youth and explains, "Anything we can do to help kids who are struggling is not only the right thing to do, it is not only good for those kids and their families, it is good for all of us and good for our community." The Yorktown Family Services Award for Community Service is presented annually to an individual who has shown outstanding leadership and has made a significant impact in improving the lives of children, youth, women and families in Canada.
