Yosemite Technologies Reports Outstanding Growth While Continuing to Simplify Backup for Customers

Total Revenue Jumps by a Third Year-Over-Year for Q1 as Customers Rave About Ease-of-Use and Savings Over Competitors

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - May 12, 2008) - Yosemite Technologies, Inc., a global provider of total data protection solutions, today announced that it has experienced a 32 percent increase in revenue in the first quarter (Q1) of 2008 over Q1 of 2007. The company made even greater gains in the channel, with revenue growing 66 percent for the same time periods. Yosemite's quarter over quarter growth for Q4 '07 into Q1 '08 was also very significant, with channel revenue up 25 percent and total revenue up 19 percent.

"The current growth we're experiencing can be directly attributed to us refocusing on our core market and our dedication to meeting customer demands," said CEO George Symons. "Last year, we made some great additions to our product portfolio that address laptop protection at the 'edge' of the network. In addition, we continue to make great advancements with our 'core' product, Yosemite Backup for servers. Customer feedback certainly indicates we remain on the right track, especially with our new pricing for Yosemite Backup Unlimited, which offers small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) the ability to backup an unlimited number of servers within a backup domain for a single price."

Yosemite customer Charles Duke, IT manager for Hill Country Bakery, LLC, a provider of large-scale custom-manufactured bakery items for regional and national companies, moved to Yosemite Backup Unlimited after his growing environment put increased demand on his physical tape backup devices, causing intermittent failures and unreliable backup jobs with very low throughput.

"We needed a fast, manageable backup system with the ability to quickly restore data in the event of a failure or any data loss and Yosemite Backup has provided us with just that," said Duke. "We are a food manufacturer first, but our need for automation has increased our usage of computers and software. Our users and their systems are required to handle a variety of daily operations. Without these systems running accurately and safe guards in place to protect the data, we would have a difficult time with all aspects of our business."

Hill Country Bakery purchased Yosemite Backup Unlimited to take advantage of the license's unlimited Windows server backup capability. The company is currently using the solution to protect all of its shared and application data. Since implementing Yosemite Backup, Duke has enjoyed the peace of mind of knowing he can backup large sets of data with increased throughput and in the process have had little or no downtime due to failed backups.

"We are now achieving excellent throughput," stated Duke. "In addition, Yosemite Backup Unlimited is allowing us to add more servers to the backup domain without adding more licensing, which enables us to keep costs down as our business grows."

As IT manager of the Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi (MACM), a professional liability insurance company, Alan Jones also chose Yosemite Backup Unlimited for Windows to address the backup needs of his constantly growing environment. Over the past seven years, MACM has grown from using a single NetWare server to its current eight Windows servers. Jones enjoys the flexibility Yosemite Backup Unlimited allows for growth, while providing easy to use and reliable backup.

"Yosemite's slogan 'Backup Simplified' is really true," explained Jones. "It is so easy that I was having trouble using it because my previous backup software got me used to doing stuff the hard way. I went from dealing with a difficult process to set jobs up, to a much more streamlined process with Yosemite Backup."

Like Charles Duke at Hill Country Bakery, Jones appreciates the way Yosemite Backup Unlimited is licensed. In addition, he's appreciative of the enterprise-class features and service Yosemite provides, even though his company is an SMB.

"We only had to buy one license and that covers everything, no matter how many servers we add, and that saves us money," stated Jones. "Also, Yosemite treats us the same as if we were a Fortune 500 company. Backup is backup and there should be no preferable treatment based on size of company. Yosemite gets that."
