You Can Bring the National Archery in the Schools Program to Your School

PETERBOROUGH, ON--(Marketwired - October 13, 2016) - The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is pleased to announce that the National Archery in the Schools Program has received funding that will allow for free archery instruction for students across Ontario.

The funding is provided by the Government of Ontario and it will help the OFAH introduce archery to 120 schools and 12,000 students across the province over the next two years.

"Educators are always looking for ways to enrich the experience of their students and this funding will allow us to bring NASP to your school, free of charge," says NASP coordinator Tim Watts. "Let your friends, family, school boards and local educators know about this fantastic opportunity to introduce youth to the great sport of archery."

NASP is a program designed to be inclusive for all students in grades four through 12, regardless of athletic ability, socio-economic background or gender. Archery activities have been known to help students develop great focus, attention to detail, fine motor skills and motivation.

Since NASP was introduced in Ontario by the OFAH in 2014, close to 60 schools have added the program to their curriculum -- and as part of this government funding, a limited-time subsidy to help offset the cost of purchasing the archery equipment is currently available for schools interested in bring NASP to their school.

"The OFAH is proud to deliver NASP to Ontario's youth and we realize in order to grow the sport of archery, we must do everything we can to reach kids who would not otherwise have an outlet to experience this activity," Watts adds.
