You're Invited to a Global Event of Gastronomic Proportions at the Big Texan

AMARILLO, TX--(Marketwired - March 22, 2015) - The world famous Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas announces a global event of gastronomic proportions and we want you to be our VIP guest!

Watch in wonder Sunday, April 19th, 2015 as 120 pound Molly Schuyler of Sacramento, California obliterates her current world record for the most steak eaten within an hour.

Competitive eater and Hot Dog Eating Champion Joey "Jaws" Chestnut held the record for six years by eating the dinner in a little under nine minutes, breaking the 21-year standing record at the time. Then, along came Molly.

In May of 2014, Schuyler claimed the crown from Chestnut during her first trip to the Big Texan Steak Ranch. In a feat no one expected to see, Molly inhaled an entire 72-ounce steak along with baked potato, side salad, shrimp cocktail and roll in LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. She then went on to eat a SECOND 72-ounce steak with all the fixin's in less than 10 minutes. News of the unprecedented event spread across the globe like butter on a hot Texas biscuit.

On April 19th Schuyler returns to the Big Texan, to not only break her own record, but destroy it by consuming at least THREE 72-ounce steaks, 3 baked potatoes, 3 shrimp cocktails, 3 side salads and 3 rolls in one hour. The steak alone weighs in at a whopping 13.5 pounds, the equivalent of a bowling ball or averaged sized three-month-old baby.

Schuyler will have some stiff competition while downing the first steak dinner. She will compete against four teams of two who are eating the meal together. Those teams consist of two professional wrestlers; two professional football players; a married competitive eating couple who have each successfully completed the 72oz Challenge and a team to be drawn at random. All teams will be eating and competing for a $1,000 purse.

Once the first steak and sides are down the hatch, Molly will continue on to eat two more meals to break the record during a live telecast emceed by J-Si from the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Show.

This worldwide competitive steak-eating craze started 55 years ago on Route 66 at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. Owner and founder RJ "Bob" Lee offered a Free 72oz Steak Dinner to anyone who could consume the entire dinner in under an hour. Since that date in 1960, about 11,000 people have successfully completed the dinner while unsuccessful attempts are estimated at 140,000.

Lee's sons, Bobby and Danny Lee, proudly carry on the 72oz Challenge today, serving about six-72oz Challenges daily. Those who can't complete the Challenge pay $72 for the meal. The rules and contest statistics have not changed; one out of six men will succeed and female challengers average one out of two completions.

We invite you to be our VIP guest at this magnificently crazy, jaw-dropping attempt at breaking the world record in the beef capital of the world.
