LOUISVILLE, KY--(Marketwired - November 02, 2016) - You're never too old for Walt Disney World!
As part of its Elder Vacation program, Signature HealthCARE will take about 100 young-at-heart seniors, residents from Kentucky and Tennessee nursing care facilities, to the magical resort in Orlando, Florida, Nov. 7-10, where dreams will come true, firsts will happen and memories will be made.
"For many people, an annual vacation is something they may take for granted. For our residents, a vacation is something they may not take at all," said Angie McAllister, director of quality of life and culture change for Signature HealthCARE. "We want our vacation program to fulfill our residents' dreams, giving them experiences of a lifetime and helping them not only exist but thrive."
A treat in itself, Signature HealthCARE residents will tour in style at Disney's Victorian-esque Grand Flordian Resort & Spa. Among the amenities, seniors will stay in rooms with amazing views and have access to multiple pools, including one with a 181-foot-long waterslide.
When it is time to park hop, elders can jump on the monorail system for quick, convenient service to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot parks. At the end of the day, the group can see the electrical water pageant on the lake or fireworks explode over Cinderella Castle.
Signature HealthCARE residents can also rediscover wonder at the Magic Kingdom, where enchantment welcomes all ages and can be found around every corner. Residents can meet some of Disney's most beloved characters, pick and choose mild to wild rides and watch electrifying shows and parades. From soaking up "it's a small world" to spinning on the Mad Tea Party, to blasting-off to Space Mountain, these seniors are in for a magical ride that will create memories for a lifetime.
The Walt Disney World trip is the latest in a string of 15 excursions in the resident vacation program, which began in 2011 and has experienced steady growth in the number of Signature HealthCARE residents wanting to participate since then. These resident vacations are made possible through fundraising at each Signature HealthCARE facility.
"Many of our residents are from rural communities, and have not ever had the opportunity to walk the beach, view the mountains or take in the sights of a theme park" McAllister said. "Through our resident vacation program, we make these dreams come true and open the door to adventure."
