Youth Sports Social Network Weplay Acquires Fantasy Sports Platform as Publishers Gather for E3

Acquires License for No. 1 Platform by Fastpoint Games

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 21, 2012) - Weplay, the fastest-growing social media network for coaches, parents and players of youth sports, announced today it acquired the exclusive license on the industry's most robust fantasy sports platform developed by Fastpoint Games. The platform has powered the fantasy sports offerings of major brands including the NBA, NASCAR, FOX Sports TV and Sony.

"This is an important acquisition because it brings the perfect games to our 1.5 million family users who, besides being parents and coaches supporting their kids in sports, often follow the players and stats of the major teams," said Lane Soelberg, CEO of Weplay. "We have many passionate sports families gathered on Weplay and we remain dedicated to making their shared sports experiences fun. They will be able to create teams and play each other in fantasy leagues, making Weplay not just an important functional platform, but also offering hours of fun competition if not all-out obsession."

Weplay will benefit from the tremendous investments in Fastpoint Games by Allen & Co., Mission Ventures, DFJ Dragon and Sports Capital Partners Worldwide. The highly scalable platform and games-as-a-service model has also attracted marquee brands such as Us Weekly, Sports Illustrated, Los Angeles Times, Go Daddy and MySpace. Fastpoint Games develops data-driven games that apply motivating mechanics to engage and reward users and compel them to invest in brands.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Weplay has a user roster of over 50,000 youth sports teams, and the backing of major brands including CAA, Major League Baseball, Microsoft, Gatorade, American Family Insurance, the Cartoon Network and Benadryl.

"The fantasy sports gaming platform will create new opportunities for brands to engage with our highly desirable demographic," added Soelberg. "Youth sports is the ideal niche because it is intensely social (teams), mobile (everywhere there's grass, gyms, pools, ice) and local (restaurants, sports equipment stores, ice cream/frozen yogurt shops, mom groups). Our families are active and competitive and the mothers are part of the demographic that represents 85 percent of the consumer purchasing power in the nation."
