Yukon Premier to Join Prime Minister, Premiers in Ottawa

WHITEHORSE, YUKON--(Marketwired - Nov. 18, 2015) - Premier Darrell Pasloski will meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the other premiers at next week's First Ministers Meeting in Ottawa.

"In addition to the meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau and a number of his ministers, Canada's premiers will also hold a brief Council of the Federation meeting in Ottawa on November 23," Pasloski said. "We will discuss several issues of interest including our participation at the COP 21 meeting in Paris on climate change."

The Council of the Federation comprises all 13 Canadian premiers. Given that the current Council of the Federation chair, Premier Paul Davis of Newfoundland and Labrador, is currently in an election campaign, Premier Pasloski will lead the premiers' meeting as incoming chair.

Premier Pasloski will highlight Yukon's priorities and work collaboratively with the federal government on a variety of programs and initiatives. The Yukon government is focused on economic opportunities, building relationships with Yukon First Nations and developing the foundations for Yukon's long-term economic growth, such as resource access roads and Next Generation Hydro development.
