Yum! Employee Uses Retrofit to Lose Weight Before Walking Down the Aisle

Yum! Collaborates With Retrofit to Help Employees Get Healthy

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - December 09, 2015) - Tracy Painter, 37, had been thin her whole life until she underwent a hysterectomy at age 25. She found herself gaining weight and ultimately 83 pounds heavier and depressed about her appearance.

Painter underwent two gastric bypass surgeries only to experience complications from both procedures, which further delayed her weight loss. She hit rock bottom before turning to exercise and nutrition to get healthy.

"I began working out and lost 50 pounds, but then started putting the weight back on after I began dating my future husband," Painter said. "I wasn't making time for my health."

After becoming engaged and beginning to plan her wedding, Painter found the wedding dress of her dreams, but she couldn't zip it. Determined to fit into the dress, she decided to take advantage of Retrofit, a weight-loss program offered by her employer Yum! Brands.

Yum! partnered with Retrofit, the leading provider of corporate weight-management programs, to help its employees lead healthy, balanced, energetic lives to achieve breakthrough results at work and home.

Through the program, which is completely funded by Yum!, employees are given the personalized attention of a live coach, a smart dashboard for tracking and notifications, expert-led interactive classes, social support from an online community and a variety of self-monitoring technologies to encourage healthy behaviors and achieve sustainable weight loss.

Painter enrolled in the program and worked with her wellness expert to focus on eating right, exercising and changing her mindset to build good habits toward weight loss.

"My absolute favorite part of the program was meeting one-on-one with my wellness expert. Those coaching sessions were the biggest part of my weight-loss success, because I was held accountable," Painter said. "Retrofit also tailored the program for me and provided suggestions that fit into my lifestyle. My coach truly cared about me as an individual and being successful."

After three months in the program, the bride-to-be was down 15 pounds and prepared to walk down the aisle.

"It was a spectacular feeling to fit perfectly into my wedding gown," Painter said. "I felt amazing in my dress and confident in my body, so I was truly able to enjoy my wedding."

Painter is not alone. Since Yum! implemented Retrofit this past summer, 95 percent of the 195 employees who have participated lost weight for a total of 2,270 pounds. Yum! kicked off another wave of the program for its employees this fall.

Today, Painter has much more energy and she feels better about herself. She eats healthier and exercises through friendly step challenge competitions with her husband. Painter is pleased that the newlyweds are setting a good example for her stepdaughter, and she is on her way to reaching her goal to lose an additional 30 pounds.
