YWCA Celebrates 30 Years of Honoring Silicon Valley's Top Executive Women

YWCA Silicon Valley Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Awards Now Accepting Nominations

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 14, 2013) - The YWCA Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Awards, the most distinguished, longest running women's recognition awards program in Silicon Valley, is currently accepting nominations for the 2014 awards. Since 1984 the YWCA Silicon Valley has recognized over 1,200 executive women leaders who exemplify excellence in executive-level positions. Nominated by their CEO, in most cases, their company is recognized not only for promoting women to executive positions, but for partnering with the YWCA to provide much needed programs and services in Silicon Valley. Companies who participate in the YWCA TWIN Awards by nominating an executive woman also provide financial support to the YWCA. How many other recognition events can say that?

Honorees are recognized at a gala dinner in May that is a major fundraiser for the YWCA. Serving over 18,000 Santa Clara County residents, the YWCA provides programs in the areas of rape crisis, domestic violence, human trafficking, youth services, counseling services, TechGYRLS and child care. The YWCA Silicon Valley is proud to have provided services for more than 109 years in Santa Clara County. Its mission is to empower women, children and families, and eliminate racism, hatred and prejudice.

What makes this event even more outstanding is the incredible list of top Silicon Valley companies that have participated from the beginning: Applied Materials, Cisco Systems, El Camino Hospital, Hewlett Packard, IBM Corporation, Lam Research, Lockheed Martin, San Jose Mercury News, San Jose State University, Silicon Graphics and Xilinx. Additionally, companies who participate regularly are: Adobe, Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Deloitte LLP, Good Samaritan Hospital, Intuit, Kaiser Permanente, KLA-Tencor, McManis Faulkner, Oracle, San Jose Water Company, Sensiba San Filippo LLP, and Synopsys. Clearly these companies understand the value of having women in executive positions and the importance of giving back to better our community.

The YWCA Silicon Valley is located at 375 South Third Street, San Jose, CA 95112. For more information on how to nominate a deserving woman, contact (408) 295-4011 or visit www.ywca-sv.org.
